Vijay is on the cover of the August 2012 issue of Down Beat Magazine for sweeping the 60th Annual Down Beat International Critics Poll. Vijay won an unprecedented FIVE categories: Jazz Artist of the Year, Pianist of the Year, Jazz Group of the Year, Album of the Year, and Rising Star Composer. Last month he was additionally voted Pianist of the Year at the 2012 Jazz Journalist Awards.
Also, last spring, Vijay and twenty other acclaimed performing artists received prestigious $225,000 Doris Duke Artist Awards.
