The Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced that Vijay Iyer will be their Artist-In-Residence for the 2015-2016 season. Vijay will occupy The Met Breuer’s Lobby Gallery for eighteen days, inaugurating its opening on March 10, 2016, with continuous performances highlighting his full body of work. Vijay will perform solo work, create sound installations for the space, collaborate with musicians, dancers, and poets, and curate performances by fellow artists.
Additionally, Vijay has been commissioned by the Met to create an entirely new work to accompany the Nasreen Mohamedi exhibition in The Met Breuer’s second-floor gallery.
