Vijay Iyer named DownBeat Jazz Artist of the Year – The Vijay Iyer Sextet is DownBeat’s Jazz Group of the Year!
For the 4th time this decade Vijay has been named Artist of the Year by Downbeat, with his band the Vijay Iyer Sextet named Group of the Year on the heels of their highly acclaimed debut recording for ECM “Far From Over”. ECM once again won top honors as Label of the Year, with founder and label head Manfred Eicher named Producer of the Year, in part for his work on “Far From Over”.
