- In Darkness and Light, pianist Sarah Rothenberg’s new solo recording, features two daunting piano works, Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 32 (Op. 111) and Morton Feldman’s Palais de Mari, alongside a piece of Vijay’s she commissioned and premiered a few years ago, titled For My Father. - Pianist Min Kwon reached out to dozens of composers over the pandemic years and somehow convinced them to create variations on “America the Beautiful.” The result of her efforts is America / Beautiful, a five-volume compendium of 76 world-premiere recordings of new solo piano variations on that theme. The set is available on CD and for streaming. When Min first invited Vijay to participate, he thought it was a terrible idea, but then he wandered over to the piano and created this impromptu variation, which he called “Crown Thy Good.”
- Violinist Jennifer Koh has made a new recording of my 2017 violin concerto Trouble, which will be released later this summer on Cedille along with her premiere recording of Courtney Bryan‘s concerto Syzygy.
